Royal Enfield sold 74,697 units in May 2018 registering a 23 per cent growth in overall sales. The manufacturer had 60,696 units sold in the same month last year.
Exports for May 2018 saw an increase of 7 per cent with 2187 units sold overseas as compared to 2049 units exported in May 2017. The manufacturer has been expanding in international markets and recently began operations in Malaysia. It launched their adventure-touring motorcycle, the Himalayan there last month. The manufacturer also announced the 2018 Classic 500 with ABS as standard in the USA.
Royal Enfield’s 350cc motorcycles- the Classic 350, Bullet 350 and Thunderbird 350 are the top-grossers for the company. The 350cc motorcycles registered a growth of 23 per cent with 68,813 units sold last month as against the 55,823 units in May 2017. While the models exceeding 350cc saw a decline in sales in May 2017, 5,884 units were sold in the same month this year; a growth of 21 per cent.
The manufacturer recently launched the Classic 500 Pegasus edition in India at Rs 2.49 lakhs (on-road). The motorcycle is limited to just 250 units in the country and will be sold through Royal Enfield’s official website on 10 July. It is also expected to launch the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 in the country by the end of 2018.
