- Domestic sales grew by 27 per cent, exports by 20
- 23 per cent growth in 2017-18 financial year
- Will focus on 650cc twins this year
Royal Enfield recorded an overall sales growth of 27 per cent in March 2018. The manufacturer sold a total of 76,087 units last month as compared to the 60,113 units it sold in the same period last year.
The company sold 74,209 units in India last month against the 58,549 units it sold in March 2017, registering a 27 per cent growth in the domestic market too. Meanwhile exports stood at 1,878 units, an increase of 20 per cent over the 1,564 units shipped in the same time last year.
As for the 2017-18 fiscal year, Royal Enfield registered a 23 per cent overall growth with 8,20,492 units sold. The manufacturer had sold 6,66,490 units in the 2016-17 financial year. Domestic sales for the 2017-18 financial year stood at 8,01,230 units as compared to the 6,51,107 units it sold in the previous year; an increase of 23 per cent.
Exports grew by 25 per cent with 19,262 unit shipped in the last financial year as compared to 15,383 units exported in 2016-17. Royal Enfield recently launched the youth-oriented Thunderbird 350X and 500X and will soon focus on the 650cc Twins, the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650. The bikes are expected to be launched in the second half of this year and are likely to be priced around Rs 3.8 lakhs to Rs 3.9lakhs.
