- Overall sales down by five per cent
- Domestic sales down by two per cent
- Delivered 1,000 motorcycles in Kerala in a single day
The COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown in the country led to lacklustre sales performance for the automobile industry. The sales data, however, has started to improve. Royal Enfield has announced its sales figures for August 2020 and the Chennai-based two-wheeler brand sold 50,144 motorcycles during the month. The overall sales were five per cent lower than the numbers delivered in August 2019.
The company sold 47,571 units in the domestic market in August 2020 as against 48,752 units in the corresponding month last year. The exports are yet to gain momentum as the world tackles the COVID-19 pandemic. Royal Enfield sold 2,573 motorcycles in the international markets in August this year as against 4,152 units in August 2019.
The festive season is likely to boost sales further. Royal Enfield recently delivered 1,000 motorcycles in a single day in the state of Kerala on the auspicious occasion of Onam.
The company will soon update its product portfolio with the launch of new products. A leaked brochure has revealed a few more details about the upcoming Royal Enfield Meteor 350.
