-Gets a chunky fuel tank with an offset filler cap
-Gets all-LED lights
-Expected to have the new Himalayan’s liquid-cooled engine
It is no secret that Royal Enfield is developing a variety of motorcycles on its 450 platform that will follow the recently launched Himalayan. One of the bikes on the said platform is the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and spy pictures of the bike reveal quite a few details.
For starters, the bike has a proper roadster design, evident in the round headlight, chunky fuel tank, small side panels and sleek tail section that appears to be similar to the one we see on the Himalayan. Even the integrated tail light and indicator setup from the ADV is seen on the Roadster 450.
As for the features, it should get all-LED lights and perhaps the circular TFT dial from the Himalayan. Chances are that the Roadster 450 may get a circular LCD cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, if component costs are a concern when it comes to pricing.
The chassis, by the looks of it, uses the engine as the stressed member. Suspension components include a telescopic fork and a preload adjustable monoshock. The bike is seemingly riding on 17-inch alloy wheels at either end and their design looks similar to the one we’ve seen on the Shotgun 650. The tyres look chunky and are road-biased.
Braking hardware consists of a disc brake at the front and rear, possibly the same as seen on the Himalayan. Dual-channel ABS will be standard.
Going by the images of the test bike, the engine should be the same unit that debuted in the Himalayan 450, down to the shape of the exhaust. This liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine makes 39.47bhp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm in the ADV. We could see Royal Enfield tweak the engine’s state of tune and possibly the gearing to offer the intended performance and rideability of a roadster.
The bike is expected to be launched in a few months and priced in the region of Rs 2.4 lakh. It will lock horns with the Triumph Speed 400 and the KTM 390 Duke.
