Royal Enfield’s first entrant for 2022 came in the form of the Scram 411. It’s based on the Himalayan but costs and packs a few goodies less. It’s priced at Rs 2.03 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) onwards and here’s what it’s like to ride. However, in the same price range, there are a few other alternatives that you can check out, if the Scram 411 hasn’t caught your fancy.
Yezdi Scrambler
Priced at Rs 2,04,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Yezdi Scrambler is a direct rival to Royal Enfield’s scrambler. It packs a 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mated to a six-speed gearbox and is tuned to churn out 28.7bhp and 28.2Nm. It not only makes 4.4bhp more but also compensates for the torque deficit since it weighs 3kg less than the Scram 411. Moreover, Yezdi has equipped it with LED illumination, a fully digital instrument cluster, handlebar-mounted USB and Type-C charging points. Moreover it also features three levels of ABS adjustability.
Yezdi Adventure
Other than the Scrambler, the Yezdi Adventure too can be a potential alternative to the Royal Enfield Scram 411. It’s priced at Rs 2,09,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and packs quite a few nifty features. Apart from LED illumination, you get a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth compatibility, USB and Type-C charging port, saddle stay and three ABS modes. The cluster comes with tilt adjustability for better convenience. It’s powered by the same motor as the Scrambler but is tuned to develop 29.8bhp and 29.9Nm.
Royal Enfield Himalayan
You can’t possibly go wrong with the Royal Enfield Himalayan. It’s priced at Rs 2,14,887 (ex-showroom Delhi) which is Rs 11,000 more than the Scram 411. For the said premium, you get everything that the Scram does and more. For reference, there’s a tall windscreen, jerry can holders, luggage rack and a larger front wheel setup. You get the same 411cc single cylinder motor with an identical output as well.
Honda CB350RS
In the mix of Scramblers and off-road ready offerings, you can also opt for the Honda CB350RS. Its asking price is set to Rs 2,01,239 (ex-showroom Delhi) and is a neo-retro offering with soft-roading credentials. To elaborate, it gets conventional suspension setup and alloys but is equipped with dual-purpose rubber. Honda has plonked a 348.3cc air-cooled single cylinder motor belting out 20.7bhp and 30Nm.
Royal Enfield Meteor 350
Lastly, another Royal Enfield offering you could look at is the Meteor 350. It’s the brand’s first offering with the updated J-platform motor and comes at a starting price of Rs 2,01,620 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Meteor 350 is powered by a 349cc single cylinder motor developing 20.2bhp and 27Nm. Unlike all the aforementioned alternatives, the Royal Enfield Meteor is a thoroughbred cruiser with a relaxed rider triangle.
