The Royal Enfield Scram 440 has gone on sale in India, shortly after it was showcased at MotoVerse 2024. The Scram 440 succeeds the Scram 411 and these are its top five highlights.
Design and colours
The Scram 440 looks largely similar to the Scram 411. It has a round LED headlight with a small cowl around it, the same fuel tank with neat tank extensions and the side panels. That said, Royal Enfield has introduced bold, new colours. Force Teal, Force Grey, Force Blue, Trail Green, and Trail Blue.
Engine and gearbox
Here is where the big changes have been made. As the name suggests, the Scram 440 has a new 443cc, air/oil-cooled engine that makes 25.4bhp at 6,250rpm and 34Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Unlike the Scram 411 that had a 5-speed gearbox, the Scram 440, with its sixth gear, should have the legs to sit comfortably at highway speeds.
Hardware
The bike employs a cradle frame that is suspended by a telescopic fork at one end and a monoshock at the other. The Scram 440 can be had with either 19-inch front/ 17-inch rear, wire-spoke wheels or alloy wheels that are shod with tubeless tyres. Braking is taken care of by a disc brake at the front and rear.
Features
In terms of features, it gets an LED headlight and tail light, switchable ABS and tripper navigation. These features are par for the course.
Competition
The Scram 440 has been competitively priced at a starting price of Rs 2.08 lakh, ex-showroom. That allows it to significantly undercut the competition, that is the Triumph Scrambler 400X.
