The new Royal Enfield Scram 440 was recently showcased at Motoverse 2024. Compared to the Scram 411, the motorcycle gets a bigger 443cc engine, strengthened underpinnings, new paint schemes, and more features. Here’s what’s new on the Scram 440.
Bigger, more powerful engine
Royal Enfield has bored out the existing 411cc motor and increased its capacity to 443cc. This has resulted in a marginal power bump of 1.1bhp and 2Nm, however, it is delivered a bit earlier in the rev range. The single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled motor pumps out 25.4bhp at 6,250rpm and 34Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield claims that the engine offers better refinement and top-end grunt. The addition of the sixth gear should help the engine feel more relaxed while touring.
New features
Royal Enfield has updated the features list on the Scram 440. The bike comes equipped with an LED headlight, which is similar to the units available on its 650s and 450s. It also gets switchable dual-channel ABS and a revised front brake for better stopping power. The motorcycle has a provision to mount a top box, albeit as an optional accessory. It also gets a pull-type clutch for a lighter clutch action.
Two variants
The new Royal Enfield Scram 440 is available in two variants – Trail and Force. The Trail variant rides on conventional 19/17-inch spoke wheels with tube-type tyres. On the other hand, the top-spec Force variant gets alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.
New colours
Royal Enfield has continued with the same styling as the outgoing model. While this may come as a lost opportunity, Royal Enfield has updated the colour palette on the Scram 440. The scrambler is available in five colours – Force Teal, Force Grey, Force Blue, Trail Green, and Trail Blue.
The Royal Enfield Scram 440 will start reaching dealerships in December 2024 and that is when we expect the bookings to commence. Meanwhile, the official launch is scheduled for January 2025.
