-Powered by the Interceptor 650’s engine
- Has a USD fork
-Expected to launch in the coming months
The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 has been spotted undergoing testing. The images of the bike in the picture suggest that it is in its near-production stage, given the lack of camouflage in most places. Here are all the details that we can make out.
Firstly, one can see the ‘Scrambler’ design of the bike given the minimal body panels all around, the wire-spoke wheels, and the stance of the bike. There’s a tear drop-shaped fuel tank and a flat side panel that has a competition number plate. The tail section is largely made up of the exposed subframe and a stubby mudguard to which there’s a round LED tail light that’s attached. The turn indicators that flank the said tail light are unlike anything we’ve seen on current Royal Enfield motorcycles.
Other bits that are specific to the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 are the tuck and roll seat, and set of new colours, with the bike seen here wearing red on-black paintwork.
The engine will be the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine that you see in the Interceptor 650 and it makes 47bhp and 52Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. What’s visible on the Scrambler 650 is the new two-into-one exhaust pipe that flows into a short exhaust endcan. Expect it to sound markedly different than the Interceptor 650 which has dual exhaust pipes.
Lastly, there are significant differences in terms of the hardware. The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 has a non-adjustable USD fork and twin shock absorbers. It is likely riding on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, wire-spoke wheel setup, shod with MRF Nylorex tyres. Braking duties will be taken care of by a disc brake at either end.
The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 is expected to go on sale in the coming months and should be priced around Rs 3.2 lakh- Rs 3.5 lakh.
