The P-platform-based 650cc Royal Enfield bikes have witnessed excellent success in India and global markets. The latest upcoming motorcycle based on the 650cc platform will be the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650. Reports suggest that it could be named the Interceptor Bear 650. While that is yet to be confirmed, here’s everything you should know about the Scrambler 650.
Design
The styling of the Scrambler 650 is largely similar to the Interceptor 650. Changes include a new handlebar with a brace, stepped seat, and a new two-into-one exhaust system. Even the rear part of the chassis has been tweaked to go with the scrambler design philosophy of the bike. Other changes include a USD fork up front and a larger front wheel.
Features
The Scrambler 650 is expected to come decently loaded with features. It is likely to get an LED headlight, dual-channel ABS, and a TFT instrument cluster with Google Maps. The latter is likely to be the same as the one on the Himalayan 450 and the Guerrilla 450. Lower variants could get a semi-digital instrument cluster with a Tripper navigation pod.
Engine Specifications
Powering the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 will be the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine that also powers the Interceptor 650 and the Super Meteor 650. This motor delivers 46.3bhp at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm of peak torque at 5,650rpm. The engine will be linked to a six-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch.
Cycle Parts
Suspension duties will be performed by upside-down front forks and twin springs at the back. Similar to the recent Royal Enfield bikes, we expect the suspension to be tuned by Showa. Meanwhile, anchoring tasks will be performed by disc brakes at both ends.
The Scrambler 650 is likely to ride on a 19-inch spoke wheel at the front and an 18-inch spoke wheel at the rear. Spy pictures have revealed that the wheels will be wrapped on MRF Nylorex-X block-pattern tyres, which look similar in design to the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR.
Launch Details & Pricing
The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 is likely to be launched in India at the Motoverse 2024 in November. It is expected to be positioned between the Interceptor 650 and the Super Meteor 650 and is likely to be priced at around Rs. 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 650 scrambler.
