- Royal Enfield opens new plant in Colombia
- To focus on Himalayan
- Will source parts from India
Royal Enfield seems to be bullish about expanding its international reach and has now set up a new manufacturing plant in Colombia. This is the second plant outside India and in South America. The manufacturing plant will focus on the Royal Enfield Himalayan that now gets a Tripper Navigation system fitted alongside the semi-digital instrument cluster. Now, this Colombian plant will receive parts from India and will hence not only bring down the cost of the Himalayan there, by cutting out importation fees on CBU, but also support local jobs.
However, this isn’t Royal Enfield’s first stint in South America. With a presence in the Colombian market since 2014, the Chennai-based bikemaker has 57 exclusive stores in 15 locations along with 40 other retail stores. Besides the South, Royal Enfield has also set its eyes on North America where it currently sells the Meteor 350, Himalayan, and the 650 twins. We can also expect the newly launched Classic 350 to make its way to the Americas sometime soon.
