- Spotted testing in Europe
- Seems to be inching closer to production
- Will be powered by a 648cc twin-cylinder motor
The Royal Enfield Sherpa 650 has made another appearance but this time on international grounds. It was spotted in Europe on one of its test runs and here are the latest updates on the upcoming Interceptor 65-based Scrambler.
The Sherpa 650 seems to be in its later stages of development and is inching closer to production. It’s based on the existing Interceptor and thus gets the same round headlight, a wide handlebar, an oval fuel tank, round mirrors, and a single-piece seat. That said, Royal Enfield has also made a few tweaks to suit the bike’s Scrambler portfolio. For reference, it gets a single-sided exhaust which is quite short. The exhaust routing, too, has been changed to accommodate the two-in-one setup.
Then there are the spoke wheels, USD front forks, and twin rear shocks as well. Royal Enfield will use the existing 648cc twin-cylinder motor for the Sherpa 650. It’s the same engine that the brand uses for the Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, and Interceptor. The power output could be 47bhp and 52Nm and it will be linked to a six-speed gearbox. The Sherpa 650 is also expected to get a twin-pod instrument console including the Tripper Navigation. On the hardware front, it will get front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS.
Royal Enfield could make an official announcement for the Sherpa 650 in early 2024. It is expected to cost less than the Super Meteor which currently retails from Rs. 3.54 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi).
