Royal Enfield has launched the Shotgun 650 in India, priced between Rs. 3.59 lakh to Rs. 3.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle is available in three variants - Custom Shed, Custom Pro, and Custom Special. We have already tested the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, and here’s our first ride review of the bobber.
The base-spec Custom Shed trim is available in the Sheetmetal Grey paint scheme and is priced at Rs. 3.59 lakh (ex-showroom), while the mid-spec Custom Pro variant, available in Green Drill and Plasma Blue shades, is priced at Rs. 3.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec Custom Special iteration is available in the flagship Stencil White colour scheme and is priced at Rs. 3.73 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Shotgun 650 is positioned between the Super Meteor 650 and the Continental GT 650 in Royal Enfield’s scheme of things. Although it is underpinned by the same chassis as the SM650, it features slightly different bodywork to complement the bobber-like styling of the bike. The motorcycle gets a flatter handlebar and centre-set footpegs to offer a commanding riding position. The motorcycle is available in four colour options – Stencil White, Plasma Blue, Green Drill, and Sheetmetal Grey.
Powering the Shotgun 650 is the same 648cc, parallel-twin, oil-cooled motor that is seen on the Super Meteor 650. The engine produces 46.4bhp at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm at 5,650rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox. As for the hardware, the Shotgun is suspended by Showa upside-down forks up front and twin springs at the back, while it rides on an 18/17-inch (front/rear) alloy wheel combination. Braking tasks are handled by a 320mm disc at the front and a 300mm rotor at the rear.
The Shotgun 650 comes equipped with features such as a full-LED lighting system, Tripper navigation, USB charging port, and a Wingman app that provides information like the bike’s live location, service reminder, fuel and engine oil level, and more.
