Royal Enfield made not one but two big announcements at the Motoverse 2023 – the launch of the Himalayan 450 and the Shotgun 650 Motoverse edition. In this story, we will tell you a few highlights of the new middleweight offering from the Chennai-based bikemaker.
Design
The Shotgun 650’s visual appeal is quite high and that seems to be an output of multiple elements like the round LED headlight, wide handlebar with bar-end mirrors, a single seat setup, curved fenders, pea-shooter exhaust and the paint scheme. Royal Enfield has only made 25 units of the Shotgun 650 Motoverse Edition, all hand-painted. Such exclusivity attributes make the Shotgun 650 Motoverse edition even more desirable for buyers.
Engine
It appears that the Royal Enfield has used the same engine for the Shotgun 650 as it does for the Super Meteor 650. It is a 649cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine that makes 47bhp and 52Nm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. However, the Shotgun’s power figures could be different if the state of tune has been altered.
Features
Along with LED illumination, the new Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 also gets a semi-digital console with a Tripper navigation module. The latter offers turn-by-turn directions for added convenience. Then, the safety net comprises ABS as well as a side-stand cut off.
Hardware
It seems that the Shotgun 650’s chassis has been borrowed from the Super Meteor 650 but with subtle changes. The setup is suspended on chunky USD front forks, dual rear springs and the bike gets disc brakes at both ends. These are linked to alloy wheels wrapped in road-biased tyres. However, it appears that the Shotgun gets smaller wheels than the Meteor 650.
Price
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Motoverse Edition is priced at Rs. 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) which makes it notably more expensive than any other bike in brand’s lineup. However, the production model is likely to cost less and will debut in early 2024 in India.
