- Shotgun 650 collector’s edition launched
- Only 25 units will be made
- Production-ready model likely to be priced at Rs 3.4 lakh
Royal Enfield will expand its 650cc line-up with the launch of the new Shotgun 650. The launch of this bike has been planned for January.
The Chennai-based manufacturer recently unveiled and launched the Motoverse limited-edition model at the Motoverse 2023 at Rs 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom). While the pricing is expensive, this model is a limited-run bike and could be used as a collector’s model. Royal Enfield will make only 25 units, each of which will be painted.
The Shotgun 650 is the production model of the SG650 concept that was unveiled at the 2021 EICMA show in Milan. Mechanically, the Shotgun 650 shares its main chassis with the Super Meteor 650 but will likely change, such as having different wheels and overall geometry. Even the ergonomics offered by the Shotgun are very different from other 650s from RE. As for the engine, it’s visually the same 649cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine as other 650s in RE’s line-up. This unit produces 47bhp and 52Nm and comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Regarding pricing, the new Shotgun will be positioned below Super Meteor 650, with a price tag of around Rs 3.3 lakh and Rs 3.4 lakh (ex-showroom). It is likely to be offered with a wide range of colours.
