- Spotted testing up close
- Will be powered by the same 658cc parallel-twin motor
- Could be the fourth middleweight from Royal Enfield
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 made a fresh appearance recently. The latest spy shots of the test mule reveal new details of the brand's probable, most-premium offering.
Following Royal Enfield's retro design philosophy, the Shotgun 650 features a round headlight, split seat, dual pea-shooter exhaust, a round taillight, as well as turn indicators. Compared to the current three offerings in the Royal Enfield 650cc stable – Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650 – the Shotgun gets an upright yet relaxed rider triangle.
The Shotgun will be equipped with the same 648cc parallel-twin motor as its siblings and get a six-speed gearbox. We expect the output figures also to be the same, 48bhp and 52Nm. That said, the tuning could be slightly altered to make the most of the Shotgun's setup.
As seen in these spy shots, the upcoming Royal Enfield bike rides on USD front forks and a dual rear shock. The latter would offer preload adjustability. Meanwhile, its braking hardware comprises a single front and rear disc with ABS, mounted on alloy wheels. Royal Enfield might also offer the Shotgun with a single-piece seat.
Its features list is expected to be quite minimal and includes an LED headlight and a dual pod instrument console like the Super Meteor 650.
Currently, Royal Enfield's most expensive and premium model is the Super Meteor. But that's likely to change once the Shotgun debuts, and it'll be positioned above the cruiser bike.
