- Looks closer to the production model
- Will feature the same engine as the current 650cc bikes
- India launch could happen soon
Royal Enfield has quite a few motorcycles on the cards for the remaining year. And in the past few months, we’ve come across the Himalayan 450, Bullet 350, and a few more. This time around, the Shotgun 650 has made another appearance on public roads, and here’s what we know about it.
On the design front, the Shotgun 650 will feature a retro theme all over. The test bike is equipped with a round headlight (revealed in the previous spy shots) with a rather neat cladding around it. Moreover, the Shotgun would also get a split seat setup and a tubular grab rail setup on each side. It’ll be the fourth Royal Enfield motorcycle in the 650cc segment.
Like the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650, the Shotgun will also house a 648cc parallel-twin motor with a six-speed gearbox. The 47 bhp and 52 Nm output from the aforementioned models might be carried over for the new bike. It’ll also get twin pod instrumentation with the larger pod likely for the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, a digital inset for the fuel reading, and other readouts. Meanwhile, the smaller pod will be used for the Tripper Navigation system.
Apart from that, the Shotgun 650 will ride on USD front forks, just like the Super Meteor, and get twin rear shocks. The braking hardware could comprise a single front and rear disc with ABS. The setup will be mounted on alloy wheels wrapped in road-biased rubber. Royal Enfield could also offer a bevy of accessories with the Shotgun 650.
Currently, the Meteor 650 is the most premium and expensive motorcycle from Royal Enfield. And we expect the Shotgun to sit below it. That said, the test mule looks closer to the production version and could be launched soon.
