- Royal Enfield inaugurates new assembly plant in Argentina
- First production facility outside India
- Will be used to assemble three models initially
Royal Enfield has set up a new assembly facility in Argentina which marks the inauguration of the brand’s first plant outside India in its 119 years of history. It is situated in the country’s capital city of Buenos Aires.
The facility will be initially utilised to assemble three Royal Enfield models – the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650 and the Himalayan. It has been established in association with Grupo Simpa, RE’s local distributor in Argentina. The brands have been partners since 2018 when Royal Enfield had entered Argentina which is the biggest motorcycle market in Latin America. The Chennai-based manufacturer has five exclusive stores in Argentina while it has 31 stores and 40 other retail touchpoints across Latin America. At present, RE has its footprint in 60 countries across the globe.
In India, Royal Enfield is currently the market leader in the mid-size modern classic two-wheeler segment. Subsequently, it has also been targeting to grab a significant share of this genre in the international markets for a while. Meanwhile, the company is also working on majorly revamping its portfolio by introducing new models such as the Meteor 350 which is expected to be launched soon. It has also been testing a new cruiser based on its 650cc, parallel-twin platform, spy shots of which had surfaced recently.
