- All BS4 motorcycles sold ahead of 31 March 2020 deadline
- Showrooms to offer BS6 bikes from 21 March
- The BS6 range comprises of Himalayan, 650 Twins and the Classic 350 range
Royal Enfield has announced that it is among the first automobile companies in the country to have successfully sold its complete inventory of BS4 motorcycles. Starting from 21 March 2020, all Royal Enfield stores across India will only offer BS6 bikes.
The company commenced the BS6 transition in early January 2020, with the launch of the Classic 350 dual-channel ABS. The two-wheeler brand stated in a press release that it has worked relentlessly with its dealership network to ensure a seamless transition to the new emission norms. Royal Enfield’s BS6 compliant range, as listed on the company's India website, comprises of the Himalayan, Interceptor INT 650, Continental GT 650, Classic 350 dual-channel ABS and Classic 350 single-channel ABS. The company has discontinued its 500 range.
Meanwhile, the two-wheeler brand is working on its next-generation motorcycles that are likely to reach the market by mid- to late-2020. While the next-generation models are currently undergoing road tests, spy images indicate that the new motorcycles are almost ready to reach the production line.
In other updates, the Supreme Court has rejected the plea made by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) to extend the BS6 compliance deadline. The association had stated in its appeal that there has been a drastic drop in the business across the dealerships due to the Coronavirus.
