- India launch to commence at 7:30 pm on 16 January, 2023
- To be available in two variants
- Will be powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled motor
Royal Enfield will update its Indian portfolio with the launch of the new Super Meteor 650 today. The Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer has posted an upcoming event on its YouTube channel that is scheduled to commence at 7:30 pm today, 16 January, 2023. The India-spec model was unveiled at the 2022 Royal Enfield Rider Mania in Goa, back in December last year and we have already brought the first look review of this new 650cc cruiser motorcycle.
As reported earlier, the new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 will be sold in Standard and Tourer variants. The standard version will be sold in five colour options – Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey, and Interstellar Green. Meanwhile, the Super Meteor 650 Tourer, which will get additional accessories, will be available in two paint options – Celestial Red and Celestial Blue.
Both variants will feature identical mechanical specifications and they would be powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled motor. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor will deliver a maximum output of 46.2bhp and a peak torque of 52Nm. While the engine is the same as the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, the Super Meteor 650 will get a different engine map and different ratios.
The motorcycle will face competition from the likes of the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Benelli 502C in the Indian market. However, Royal Enfield is expected to price the Super Meteor 650 competitively and it should arrive in a much lower price range than its rivals mentioned above.
