- Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 spied again
- Sported a bunch of touring accessories
- Likely to be launched in the April-June quarter
The recent spy shots of the Royal Enfield Classic 650 doing test runs profoundly surprised us. You can view the first-ever spy shots of the bike here. Interestingly, the Classic 650 was not the only upcoming RE undergoing road test as it was accompanied by the Super Meteor 650. Although this is not the first time the Super Meteor has been spied, what grabbed our attention this time were a bunch of touring-oriented accessories it was equipped with.
On the front, the test mule sported big crash guards with auxiliary lamps attached to them. There was a large windscreen too, which looked similar to the one we have seen on the Supernova variant of the existing Meteor 350. At the rear, the test mule of the Super Meteor 650 bore hard-case side panniers as well as a top box, perhaps made of plastic. These elements clearly indicate that similar to the existing Meteor 350, the Super Meteor too will be an outright touring motorcycle.
As we already know, the motorcycle will be powered by the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine that propels the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. However, the gearing and the state of tune might be different for the Super Meteor. Moreover, it will also be more premium in terms of cycle parts considering the presence of upside-down forks and alloy wheels on the test mule, unlike the Interceptor’s conventional forks and spoke wheels.
The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is expected to be launched in the April-June quarter this year. It will mainly compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Benelli 502C.
