Royal Enfield’s upcoming middleweight, the Super Meteor 650 has been spotted multiple times on its test runs across the country. Its spy shots have now been leaked again and the bike seems ready for production.
The latest test mule was equipped with a non-adjustable, tall, transparent visor for wind protection. It even has small ducts for slight deflection towards the rider. The bike even had an engine crash guard which wasn’t equipped on the previous test mules. Overall the retro design with relaxed riding ergonomics cements its cruising purpose. Royal Enfield will likely offer the crash guard and windscreen as accessories as it does with most of its bikes.
The Super Meteor 650 will borrow its powertrain from the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. It’s a 648cc parallel-twin motor dishing out 48bhp and 52Nm. We expect the same setup for the Super Meteor as well.
Unlike the existing 650s, Royal Enfield will equip the Super Meteor with USD front forks instead of the conventional setup. At the rear, it gets dual springs which could be set differently as per the bike’s weight distribution. Its braking hardware comprises a single front and rear disc with dual-channel ABS. Royal Enfield will offer the Tripper Navigation as an accessory on the Meteor 650.
Considering the test mule’s development over the last few months, we think it looks ready for production. Royal Enfield could launch it later this year with one more offering for the Indian market.
