Another Royal Enfield test mule has been spotted and this time it is the Super Meteor 650, which is already on sale. So, what is Royal Enfield testing now? Well, it’s the set of bagger-style panniers that the Super Meteor 650 could get as an optional accessory. These units seem to be the same as the ones showcased at the Royal Enfield Rider Mania 2022.
Fitment-wise, these hard case units have grooves at the bottom so they can be accommodated directly above the exhaust with a notable gap in between. While the mounting, capacity and locking details are yet to be determined, the sample units showcased last year seemed quite spacious and had a top-mounted lock. Moreover, the brand also announced that the price of the pannier could be Rs. 13,500 with an additional cost of Rs. 4,500 for the mounts.
Royal Enfield could also offer a separate model with these storage units as well as other bits equipped as standard. However, that’ll be known once the brand makes an official announcement. Currently, the Super Meteor 650 has three variants on sale: Astral, Interstellar and Celestial. The asking price for the Astral trim is Rs. 3.54 lakh whereas the Interstellar and Celestial models cost Rs. 3.69 lakh and Rs. 3.84 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
Royal Enfield also has a few other models in the pipeline. The list includes the Classic 650, Sherpa 650 (Interceptor-based Scrambler) and the Shotgun 650. Apart from that, the brand is also working on a new 450cc line up which could comprise the Himalayan 450, Roadster 450 and probably a power cruiser too. Royal Enfield will also launch the updated Bullet 350 by the end of this month.
