- Global debut at the 2022 EICMA show
- Likely to be available in three variants
- To become Royal Enfield's new flagship
After being spied on multiple times over the last few months, Royal Enfield's highly-awaited cruiser, the Super Meteor 650, will be officially unveiled tomorrow, 8 November 2022. The middle-weight cruiser will make its global debut at the 2022 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy.
While its detailed specifications are yet to be out, a lot of aspects have already been speculated. For instance, the recent teaser hinted that it will be available in three variants with fancy astronomical names, similar to its smaller sibling, the Meteor 350. Likely to be called Astral, Celestial, and Interstellar, these variants will mostly differ in terms of paint scheme and accessories.
The Super Meteor 650 will be based on the same platform as the Interceptor 650. However, it will boast some more premium components like upside-down forks up front, as opposed to INT's telescopic units. It might also incorporate more modern features like Tripper Navigation and a LED lighting system.
In terms of design and ergonomics, spy shots reveal it follows a typical cruiser theme with a low-profile and long wheelbase while offering a laid-back riding stance. The engine, meanwhile, will continue to be the same 47bhp, 648cc, parallel-twin unit as the Interceptor but perhaps with certain changes to its tuning.
In terms of pricing, Royal Enfield will position the Super Meteor 650 above the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. And it will compete against the likes of the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Benelli 502C in India.
