Royal Enfield recently updated the Thunderbird 500 by equipping it with an ABS system. The bike now retails at Rs 2.05 lakhs (ex-showroom), a premium of Rs 15,000 over the standard version. At that price point there are 12 bikes on offer. Here’s what the list looks like-
Apart from the Thunderbird 500 ABS, Royal Enfield offers two models with ABS; the Thunderbird 500X ABS and Classic 500. The Thunderbird 500X is a more modern, custom motorcycle inspired version of the standard bike. While the ABS variant costs Rs 2.13 lakhs, the standard version retails at Rs 1.98 lakhs.
The Classic 500 costs Rs 1.84 lakhs for the non-ABS version and Rs 1.99 lakhs for the ABS. Furthermore it is offered in five different colour variants which range from 1.87 lakhs to Rs 2.10 lakhs. The Thunderbird 500X and Classic 500 range are powered by a 499cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of torque.
You can also have the sportier TVS Apache RR 310 which offers a dual-channel ABS system as standard at Rs 2.13 lakhs. Under the full-fairing, the bike houses a 313cc, single-cylinder motor that is good for 33bhp and 27.3Nm of torque.
Now there are a few motorcycles that are offered without an ABS unit, although we can expect them to come equipped with the safety feature by early next year. UM Motorcycle also offers cruisers in the price range of the Thunderbird 500 ABS. There is the Renegade Mojave that features blacked-out components for a modern appeal. It retails at Rs 1.85 lakhs. Based on the bike is the Renegade Classic, and as its namesake, the bike is adorned with chrome that exudes a classic appeal. The bike retails at Rs 2.03 lakhs. Both bikes use a 279cc, single-cylinder motor that produces 24.8bhp and 23Nm of torque.
You can also have two motorcycles in a streetfighter body style. The KTM 250 Duke with an upright yet aggressive riding stance sport a design language inspired by its bigger sibling, the 390 Duke. Powering the bike is a 248cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 29.6bhp and 24Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 1.80 lakhs. The Mahindra Mojo XT300 on the other hand is a touring focused motorcycle thanks to its comfortable riding position. The bike uses a 295cc, single-cylinder motor that is capable of producing 26.4bhp and 30Nm of torque. The Mojo XT300 will cost you Rs 1.83 lakhs
