For a manufacturer which takes pride in its traditional approach towards motorcycling, the Thunderbird 500X marks a big revolution. Targeted at urban buyers, the Thunderbird 500X has been priced at Rs 1.98 lakhs (ex-showroom). Here is photo gallery of the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X -
The overall profile of the Thunderbird 500X is similar to the standard bike, although the paint scheme and the flat handlebar give it an aggressive look.
The fenders, frame, engine, alloy wheels, seat and exhaust have been blacked out. The tank and rim tapes contrast beautifully with these components.
The round headlamp, mirrors, clocks and the indicators give it a retro look. The tear-drop shaped fuel tank can hold 20 litres of fuel.
The Thunderbird 500X also borrows the powertrain from its sibling. At the heart of the bike is a 499cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine.
The engine features a fuel-injection system and delivers 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed transmission.
The Thunderbird 500X features a 19-inch front and 18-inch rear alloy wheel, shod with tubeless tyres, which is a first for Royal Enfield.
The Thunderbird 500X gets disc brakes at both ends. The front wheel gets a 280mm disc while the rear wheel gets 240mm disc.
The suspension setup consists of 41mm telescopic front forks and five-step preload adjustable dual shocks at the rear.
