Royal Enfield has assigned Rs 700 crores as its capital expenditure for 2019-2020 financial year. It also plans to produce 9.5 lakh bikes in the current financial year.
The Chennai-based manufacturer said that a major chunk of the capex will go towards the construction activities of the technology centre and the phase 2 of its Vallam Vadagal plant. A large chunk of money will also go into developing new motorcycle platforms, that are likely to make their world debuts in the next few years.
Royal Enfield is readying a new range of motorcycles for 2020 - a year when the BS-VI norm kicks in. In fact, the upgraded Classic 350 and 500 were recently spotted testing close to its plant in Chennai. These bikes are likely to be launched early next year.
