Royal Enfield will be showcasing their adventure bike – the Himalayan at the upcoming EICMA show in Italy.
This development clearly shows the company’s intention in launching the Himalayan in the European market. But this means that the company will showcase the fuel injected version and not the carburetted one, as the Euro 4 emission norm will kick in from January 2017. Currently, the Himalayan is sold only in the Indian market as a carb version but from next year onwards, the Chennai-based manufacturer has to launch the fuel injected version to comply with the Indian norms. But it’ll be interesting to see how the company takes on the adventure segment in Europe considering the fact that BMWs, KTMs and Triumphs have a strong customer base there.
Royal Enfield has been slowly but steadily expanding its footprint in the international markets, especially in United States and a couple of countries in Europe. While the company’s export figure aren’t really in huge numbers, it’s a good start to make their presence felt. And the reason is because Royal Enfield wants to establish its stores and brand for the upcoming parallel twin motorcycles that’s being developed for the international markets. In fact, a prototype was seen testing on European roads a couple of months ago. So in the next couple of years, expect the international markets to bring in considerable sales for the company.
