Royal Enfield has updated its official website with information on the upcoming Bullet 500. The motorcycle that has been shown is painted in a shade of forest green and now clearly shows that the Bullet 500 will have a carburettor instead of fuel injection system, most likely in a bid to keep the cost of the vehicle down. This version also gets a revised RE logo.
The Bullet 500 will be powered single-cylinder air-cooled 499cc mill producing 26.5PS@5100rpm and 40.9Nm of torque@3800rpm. Power will be transmitted via a five-speed constant mesh gearbox. The bike has been fitted with a carburettor that has been given a throttle position sensor. It is 2.1 meters long, 810mm wide, has a wheelbase of 1.37 meters and has a fuel tank of 13.5-litres that is almost 1.5-litres lesser than the Classic 500. As per the website, it has a kerb weight of 193kgs when the tank is 90 per cent full. The bike also gets telescopic shocks+disc brake in front and twin gas charged shocks and a drum in the rear.
The new Bullet 500 is expected to cost Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000 lesser than the Classic 500 EFI. However, the Chennai based manufacturer has not yet announced a launch date for the bike.
