- Classic 500 Pegasus online sale was supposed to be conducted today
- Website facing technical snag due to ‘overwhelming’ response
- No word about revised date as of now
Over the years, Royal Enfield motorcycles have earned the reputation of developing technical snags and breakdowns at the unlikeliest of moments. It seems like even their website is not immune to this problem. The overwhelming response for the Classic 500 Pegasus has caused Royal Enfield’s online booking portal to develop unanticipated technical difficulties, resulting in the date of sale being pushed ahead.
The Classic 500 Pegasus edition was launched in India with a price tag of Rs 2,49,217 (on-road), a few weeks ago. With a limited production of 1000 units worldwide, just 250 units have been allotted for the Indian audience. The 250 units were supposed to be sold online today, although Royal Enfield’s online booking portal seems to have developed some problem due to the overwhelming response. As we write this story, there is no word on the revised date for the online sale.
The Classic 500 Pegasus is inspired by the Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 used in World War II by the British military. It is powered by the same 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine from the Classic 500 that puts out 27.2bhp and 41.3Nm of torque. It gets an exclusive paint scheme and a bunch of accessories to set it apart in a crowd. However, the exclusivity comes at a price. The Classic 500 Pegasus is Rs 44,200 more expensive than a regular Classic 500. We expect Royal Enfield to announce the revised date for the online sale very soon. Here are a few other options that you can buy off a showroom in case you can’t wait for the Pegasus.
