- Powered by the same motor as the Interceptor 650
- Looks production ready
- Official launch could happen soon
Royal Enfield has been testing quite a few of its upcoming motorcycles, all of which have made multiple appearances over the past few months. This time around, the Super Meteor 650 has been spotted testing up close.
The test bike looks ready for production and was spotted on its test runs without camouflage. It features a long wheelbase and a relaxed rider triangle, courtesy of the wide handlebar and forward-set footpegs. Royal Enfield is likely to equip the Meteor 650 with an LED headlight as standard.
It’ll retain the 648cc parallel-twin air/oil-cooled engine that Royal Enfield uses for the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. The motor dishes out 47 bhp and a torque of 52 Nm in its current setup and we expect the same numbers from the Super Meteor 650 as well. It’ll also carry over the six-speed gearbox.
The Super Meteor 650 will be one of the first bikes from Royal Enfield to feature USD front forks. That said, the twin rear shocks and the braking setup will be borrowed as it is from the current 650cc twins. We expect Royal Enfield to offer a host of accessories as well for the upcoming Meteor 650.
Royal Enfield is likely to price it at a premium over the current middleweight offerings from its portfolio. Since the test bike seems to inch closer to production, you can expect an official announcement soon.
