Ducati recently marked its official re-entry into the Indian market with the launch of a number of motorcycles, ranging from the Monster 795 to the extreme 1299 Panigale. Now, reports suggest that the Italian manufacturer has started accepting bookings of the Scrambler Icon against a token amount of Rs 50,000.
Reports suggest that the dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi are accepting bookings only for the Icon variant of the Ducati Scrambler. While this variant is mechanically similar to the Urban Enduro, Classic and Full Throttle models, it gets unique styling cues aluminium covers for the teardrop fuel tank and 10-spoke alloy wheels along with the minimalistic bodywork. It is powered by an 803cc L-twin desmodromic engine, which delivers 75bhp and 68Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission.
Once it is introduced here, the Scrambler Icon will be the new entry-level model for the company. Though the company hasn’t confirmed this yet, rumours indicate that the launch of the Scrambler has been slated to be sometime in May.
The Scrambler Icon will rival other middleweight naked motorcycles like the Benelli TNT 600i and the Triumph Street Triple. Owing to the motorcycle’s popularity in other global markets, the Scrambler Icon will be brought in very limited numbers, and is expected to be priced at Rs 6.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
