Indian racers Sarath Kumar and Sethu Rajiv will race in the 2017 Asia Road Racing Championship. Riding for the RAMA Honda Racing team, Sarath and Sethu will compete in the SuperSport 600cc class and Production 250cc class respectively.
This will be Sarath's second outing in the Asia Road Racing Championship. While his last year's campaign was filled with challenges and serious injuries, he will be looking at putting up a good performance this season. Sethu on the other hand will be a rookie, though he has had experience racing in the Asia Dream Cup in 2015 and 2016 apart from other domestic championships. Last year, Sethu clinched the title in the Pro Stock 165cc category in the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship.
While Sarath will ride a Honda CBR600WR, Sethu will be astride a CBR250RR in the championship. First held in 1996, the Asia Road Racing Championship is a regional motorcycle racing championship approved by FIM. The Championship is currently divided into three open-make classes and two one-make classes, ranging from underbone 130cc to SuperSport 600cc.
This season's first race will be conducted at the Johor Circuit, Malaysia, this weekend. The ARRC will be returning to Buddh International Circuit later this year, which should draw a hurrah from motorsport fans in India.
