After shocking the Indian consumers last year with five motorcycle launches, the Z250 naked bike is the next bike to be launched by India Kawasaki Motors, this year. This quarter litre naked motorcycle was unveiled last year at the Tokyo Motor Show and looks like an exact descendant of its big brothers, the Z1000 and Z800.
The Kawasaki Z250 is powered by a 249cc parallel-twin liquid cooled fuel injected engine and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. This engine churns out 32PS at 11,000 rpm which is almost similar to the discontinued Ninja 250R.
Kawasaki has tried to keep the major mass at the front and very minimum tail design to give it a dynamic character. With an upright riding position, the bike is good for city riding as well as for touring. Kawasaki has given the bike a redesigned instrument cluster that sports an analog tachometer with a multi-function LCD screen that displays a wide range of data like trip meters, fuel indicator and much more.
We expect Kawasaki Z250 to be priced between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 3.4 lakh ex-showroom and will be launched in the middle of the year. It will be sold in India through the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route and will directly compete with the recently launched Suzuki Inazuma 250. The Z250 will make its presence felt at Kawasaki showrooms in Pune and Delhi soon after it is launched and will share the space with the Ninja and the Z family.
