Kawasaki is expanding its dirt bike line-up in India. The company is gearing up to launch the KX250F for the Indian market within the next couple of days.
The Japanese manufacturer has already imported five KX250F bikes from Japan. With this motorcycle, Kawasaki wants to focus on the growing motocross fever in India. Currently, there are hardly any manufacturers who sell dirt bikes officially. Kawasaki has been selling the KLX110 for the last year but that bike is for small children. With the launch of the KX250F, enthusiasts will now be able to buy a powerful motocross bike legally. However, the KX250F will not be road legal because it doesn’t get a headlight, tail light or turn indicators. Kawasaki has expressed no interest in homologating it either.
This motorcycle is powered by a single-cylinder 250cc engine mated to a five-speed transmission. The suspension duties are taken care of by 48mmm upside-down Showa with separate function forks (SFF) in the front. There’s a monoshock at the rear with preload, compression and damping adjustment. The KX250F is equipped with a 270mm disc with dual-piston calliper at the front and single 240mm disc with single-piston calliper at the rear. The bike tips the scale at 104kg.
Kawasaki will launch the KX250F as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit from Japan. We’re expecting a hefty price tag of Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 3.8 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) for this motorcycle.
