India Kawasaki Motors’ Pune showroom has started taking bookings for the Z1000 motorcycle. The bike will be displayed at the Pune showroom from December 25 and the deliveries will start only in January 2014.
The Indian market will be getting the 2014 version of the Z1000 that was recently unveiled at the 2013 EICMA Milan, Italy. The 2014 Streetfighter gets many updates cosmetically as well as mechanically. The most obvious change to the Z1000 is that it gets a new headlight assembly which is an LED spec unit and is the first from any Japanese manufacturer. The 2014 Z1000 looks very mean and aggressive due to Kawasaki’s new ‘Sugomi’ styling.
The 2014 Z1000 is powered by a 1,043cc inline-four liquid-cooled engine that churns out 142bhp at 10,000rpm and a torque of 111Nm at 7,300 rpm. They have revised the ECU settings, made changes to the camshaft timings, fitted a new air box and have connected the cylinders to reduce pumping losses. The Z1000 gets a big piston fork that offers lightweight and excellent wheel control and also gets one piece monobloc radial-mount front brake calipers that offers superior braking. It also gets a new analog plus digital instrument cluster including a large tachometer and a digital display that offers information on current bike conditions and settings.
The Kawasaki Z1000 will be the first non-Ninja moniker motorcycle to be launched in India and is expected to be priced close to Rs 18.5 lakh (on road Pune). Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get more details on the motorcycle.
