Piaggio has been aggressive with its Motoplex showroom expansion in India. Now with four operational exclusive showrooms, the company plans to add more products under its umbrella, especially the Aprilias.
The Italian manufacturer will launch two new Aprilia motorcycles in the next few weeks – the Shiver 900 and the Dorsoduro 900. Both the bikes will be imported from Italy and will be launched as completely-built-up (CBU) units. The most interesting bit is that the Shiver 900 will be the most affordable Aprilia one can buy in India. The Ducati Monster rival will be priced at Rs 13.33 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) and the Dorsoduro will retail at Rs 13.84 lakh (ex-showroom Pune), thus making it the second most affordable Aprilia in India.
The new Shiver and the Dorsoduro 900s were previously 750cc motorcycles. Aprilia gave both bikes 150cc displacement bump to make it 900cc and this was done to have more torque at low and mid-range for maximum excitement and also to meet the Euro4 emission norms. So, both the bikes now produce 95.2bhp at 8750rpm and peak torque 89Nm 6500rpm. Other than this, the bikes have been updated with better electronics. While the Shiver 900 gets a single-level traction control, the Dorsoduro is equipped with three-level settings. There are other features like ABS, different riding modes and ride-by-wire system.
The bookings for the new Shiver 900 and the Dorsoduro will begin in the next few days at all Motoplex showrooms.
