Suzuki is still preparing itself for the launch of their new 155cc motorcycle- the Gixxer. Before we get the official launch date of the motorcycle, our sources have informed us about the price of the bike. The Gixxer is priced at Rs 74,509 (Ex-showroom Navi Mumbai).
The Suzuki Gixxer will be available in five colours- metallic triton blue, oort grey metallic, candy antares red, peal mirage white and glass sparkle black. Borrowing styling traits from the Suzuki GSX-R series of bikes, the Gixxer boasts of a bikini fairing around the headlamps, digital instrument cluster, a well-sculpted tank and a tidy tail. It features a dual shape exhaust can which make it stand apart from its other Suzuki siblings.
The Suzuki Gixxer sports telescopic forks at the front and a single-shock suspension with an aluminium swing-arm at the rear. The motorcycle is equipped with a front disc brake and a drum brake at the rear. The alloy wheels get a special Y shape while the bike also boasts of a wide 140/60R tyre at the rear and 100/80 size tyre at the front. Both are 17-inch in size and tubeless.
Coming to the mechanical bits, Suzuki has powered the Gixxer with a four-stroke single cylinder air-cooled 155cc engine that produces 10.4kW, that is, 13.94bhp of power and 14Nm of torque. This motor comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, unlike the GS150R which gets a six-speed transmission. The motorcycle gets an electric start like other bikes in the segment and a carburetted fuel system. However, the two-wheeler is equipped with SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology which the company claims will help it to deliver both good performance as well as fuel efficiency.
Suzuki is also offering customers with extended warranty and road-side assistance as well. With an on-road price of around Rs 84,000, it would be interesting to see if customers will opt for a naked bike which is priced on the higher side in comparison to the Hero Extreme, Yamaha FZ, Honda Trigger and the Bajaj Pulsar 150 in the Indian market.
