- Spanish car maker SEAT unveils the production model of its first electric scooter
- Claimed to deliver a range of 125km and 95kmph top speed
- Will be sold only in the European markets
SEAT, a Spanish car maker, has unveiled the production model of its first electric scooter, christened the eScooter 125. The company had announced its entry into the electric two-wheeler segment in November last year, when it had also revealed the eScooter concept at the Barcelona Smart City Expo World Congress.
The eScooter 125 has several noteworthy traits, most impressive of which is its riding range of 125km. While SEAT hasn’t revealed the technical specifications of the battery yet, we know it is an easily removable unit. The smart placement of the battery has allowed to create a large space under the seat, big enough to store two small sized helmets.
Besides the relatively long riding range, the eScooter 125 also packs a powerful motor which propels it to the top speed of 95kmph and zero to 50kmph acceleration time stands at 3.9 seconds. SEAT is yet disclose the motor specs but it should be similar to the concept’s 7kW rear wheel-mounted motor. Furthermore, it also comes with three riding modes – Eco, City and Sport.
Although the design of the eScooter 125 is not as radical as the concept, it still looks futuristic with a geometrically designed headlamp unit, tall windscreen and a sleek and minimalistic tail section. The full-LED lighting setup is accompanied by a fully-digital instrument cluster which shows plenty of information. It also features a reverse mode and smartphone connectivity which helps in remote tracking and activation of the scooter.
SEAT will be selling the eScooter 125 only in the European markets. Given the fact that SEAT doesn’t have a presence in India, the eScooter 125 is unlikely to come here anytime soon.
