- Semi-faired Yamaha MT-09 render surfaces
- Gets retro-inspired styling
- Will compete against the Suzuki Katana and Kawasaki Z900 RS Cafe
Yamaha is reportedly working on a semi-faired MT-09, a rendering by a Japanese website known for its strangely precise predictions revealed.
The image shows the motorcycle sporting a retro-styled half-fairing with twin projector lamps similar to the YZF-R1. Adorned in Yamaha’s iconic red/white/black colour scheme, the motorcycle seems to use the same frame and even the 847cc, in-line three engine as the MT-09.
While Yamaha already has the XSR 900; a retro motorcycle based on the MT-09, the chance of the manufacturer working on a semi-faired motorcycle is highly possible. It is important to note that the image is just a rendering and the production motorcycle could look much different. Nevertheless, if it is launched, the semi-faired retro motorcycle from Yamaha would take the fight directly to the Suzuki Katana and the Kawasaki Z900 RS Cafe.
