Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team has kickstarted its journey for the Dakar 2020 adventure with a ceremonial flag-off event that was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is the sixth consecutive participation of the team in this prestigious event. For this year, the team comprises of four riders – Johnny Aubert (France), Adrien Metge (France), Harith Noah (India), and Lorenzo Santolino (Spain). Unfortunately, Michael Metge could not be a part of the 2020 team due to injury.
The course of the first edition of the Dakar rally in Saudi Arabia will have the participants exploring through the vast expanses of the largest nation in the Middle East. The teams will be seen covering a distance of 7,500km through the course of 12 stages which includes special stages of 5,000km. The route comprises of a wide variety of terra firma with a majority of it being sand dunes that will put the skills and ability of the riders and their machines to the ultimate test.
The Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team will be riding the Dakar-spec RTR 450 Rally bike and has prepared in Morocco, Spain, and France in the universal race schedule.
With the Stage 1 of the rally starting today, the teams will cover a distance of 752kms out of which 319km comprises of hills and stones, making the gruelling rally challenging from the very start.
