- More affordable than the older Simple One
- Pre-bookings open at Rs. 1,947
- The claimed range stands at 160kms
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup, Simple Energy, has launched the new Dot One electric scooter in India. With a price tag of Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom), it is Rs. 5,000 more affordable than the existing Simple One. Pre-bookings for the Dot One are already open for Rs. 1,947 while the priority pre-bookings for the existing Simple One customers, who want to upgrade to the Dot One, will commence on 1 January, 2024.
One of the main highlights of the Dot One electric scooter is its claimed IDC battery range of 160kms. If the real-world range turns out to be close to the claimed figure, the Dot One will outdo all of its rivals in the electric scooter segment. Helping it achieve this feat is a 3.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is accompanied by a 750W charger. Further, propelling the scooter is an 8.5kW electric motor that is good for a peak torque output of 72Nm. Interestingly, Simple Energy claims that it can go from zero to 40kmph in 2.77 seconds.
The Dot One rides on 12-inch alloy wheels that are shod with specially designed tyres claimed to help in maximising the riding range. Other features of the e-scooter include a sizeable 35-litre under-seat storage space, CBS, a touch-operable instrument cluster, and mobile application connectivity. As for its design, the sharp and sporty bodywork of the Dot One is identical to the pricier One. Simple Energy has introduced the scooter in four colours – Namma Red, Brazen Black, Grace White, and Azure Blue. The deliveries of the Dot One will soon commence in Bengaluru followed by a few other cities at a later stage.
