The new Simple One electric scooter has finally arrived in the Indian market. Even though the bookings for this electric scooter had commenced in August 2021, its India launch was previously delayed. What is the battery range and charging time of the Simple One electric scooter?
The new Simple One electric scooter is equipped with two battery packs – Fixed and Portable. These come as standard, and the company claims an IDC-certified range of 212km on a full charge. The 0-80 per cent charging time for the Fixed and Portable battery packs is rated at 3 hours 47 minutes and 2 hours and 07 minutes, respectively. These timings are rated via a home charger. Meanwhile, the company is offering a 750W fast charger that is claimed to recharge the battery pack at a speed of 1.5km per minute (0-80 per cent).
What are the specifications of the Simple One electric scooter?
The electric motor on this electric scooter is claimed to deliver a peak and continuous power of 8.5kW and 4.5kW, respectively, and a torque output of 72Nm. The 0-40kmph acceleration time is claimed to take just 2.77 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 105kmph. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a belt drive system. Notably, the performance and range are altered based on the selected ride mode – Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic.
What features does the Simple One electric scooter get?
The premium feature list on the Simple One electric scooter comprises full-LED lighting, a seven-inch TFT touchscreen display, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, onboard maps, document storage, ride statistics, OTA updates, parking assist, and call and music controls. A combined braking system and regenerative braking are also part of the package. The switchgear comprises motor kill and ignition, multi-toggle, reverse, horn, indicators, and high/low/pass beam.
What hardware does the Simple One electric scooter use?
The suspension tasks on the Simple One are handled by telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. The braking hardware includes a 200mm single disc with a triple-piston calliper at the front and a 190mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper at the back. Simple One claims the braking distance (60-0kmph) to be 27 metres.
What are the variants and colour options available for the Simple One electric scooter?
The new Simple One electric scooter is available in a single variant priced at Rs. 1.45 lakh. Meanwhile, the company is also offering a 750W fast charger by paying an additional Rs. 13,000. The six colours available for the Simple One include Namma Red, Brazen Black, Azure Blue, Grace White, BrazenX, and LightX paint themes. The vehicle, motor, and battery are backed by a three-year/30,000km warranty. The charger, on the other hand, comes with a one-year/10,000km warranty.
As mentioned earlier, Simple Energy commenced the bookings for this electric scooter nearly 18 months ago and claims to have received over one lakh pre-bookings for this product since then. The company will facilitate customer deliveries in a phased manner, starting with Bengaluru. Simple Energy aims to expand its operations in the next 12 months by increasing its presence in 40-50 cities. The Simple One will be manufactured at the company’s new facility in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu. This facility has an installed annual capacity of approximately five lakh units.
