Bengaluru-based, electric two-wheeler maker, Simple Energy has commenced the deliveries of its first product, the Simple One, in the Indian market. The initial bookings for the Simple One electric scooter commenced in August 2021. However, the launch of this product was delayed due to several reasons. The company announced its re-launch in India in May this year at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 1.45 lakh.
Simple Energy plans to deliver these electric scooters in a phased manner, starting from Bengaluru. Further, it aims to ramp up its retail operations in the next 12 months by increasing its presence in 40-50 cities across India.
To give you a quick recap, the new Simple One is available in a single variant and six colours. All colour options are available at Rs. 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). However, buyers opting for the 750W fast charger will have to pay an additional Rs. 13,000. The colour palette comprises Namma Red, Brazen Black, Azure Blue, Grace White, BrazenX, and LightX.
The electric motor on the new Simple One is claimed to deliver a peak and continuous power output of 8.5kW and 4.5kW, respectively, and the torque output is rated at 72Nm. The 0-40kmph acceleration time is claimed to take 2.77 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 105kmph.
The One will be manufactured at the company’s new facility in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu, which has an installed annual capacity of approximately five lakh units.
