Simple Energy has announced the launch of its first electric scooter, the Simple One, in the Indian market. This new electric scooter from the Bengaluru-based manufacturer is available in a single variant and six colours with prices starting from Rs. 1.45 lakh onwards. The new Simple One is available in a single variant, and it has been priced at Rs. 1.45 lakh. Meanwhile, buyers can opt for a 750W fast charger by paying an additional Rs. 13,000. The vehicle is available in six colours – Namma Red, Brazen Black, Azure Blue, Grace White, BrazenX, and LightX. The vehicle, motor, and battery are backed by a three-year/30,000km warranty. The charger, on the other hand, comes with a one-year/10,000km warranty.
What are the booking and availability details of the Simple One electric scooter?
Simple Energy commenced the bookings for this electric scooter nearly 18 months ago, and the company has received over one lakh pre-bookings for the product. The company plans to facilitate customer deliveries in a phased manner, starting with Bengaluru. Further, Simple Energy aims to ramp up its retail operations in the next 12 months by increasing its presence in 40-50 cities, through a network of 160-180 retail stores.
What are the specifications of the Simple One electric scooter?
The electric motor on the new Simple One electric scooter is claimed to deliver a peak and continuous power output of 8.5kW and 4.5kW, respectively. Meanwhile, the torque output is rated at 72Nm. Simple Energy claims a 0-40kmph acceleration time of 2.77 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 105kmph. It boasts a belt drive system and four ride modes – Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. Further, this electric scooter is equipped with two battery packs – Fixed and Portable. The charging time for the Fixed and Portable battery packs is rated at 3 hours 47 minutes and 2 hours and 07 minutes, respectively, via a home charger.

The Simple One electric scooter is equipped with several premium features. The list comprises full-LED lighting, a seven-inch TFT touchscreen display, parking assist, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, onboard maps, document storage, ride statistics, OTA updates, and call and music controls. The safety net comprises a combined braking system.
What hardware does the Simple One electric scooter use?
The Simple One is built around a tubular chassis, and it uses telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock to handle the suspension duties. The braking setup comprises a 200mm single disc with a triple-piston calliper at the front and a 190mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper at the back. The company claims a braking distance (60-0kmph) of 27 metres. Other key dimensions include a 796mm of seat height, 134kg of kerb weight, 300mm of water wading capacity, and a 30-litre boot space. This new electric scooter will be manufactured at the company’s new facility in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu, which has an installed annual capacity of approximately five lakh units.
