In a couple of our previous stories, we compared the recently re-launched Simple One against the TVS iQube and the Ola S1 Pro. Now, there’s another name that rivals the One, and it’s the Ather 450X. Let’s fair the two e-scooters on paper.
Design
The competition in terms of design is quite neck-and-neck as both the Simple One and the Ather 450X get sporty bodywork. The two e-scooters feature a sharp and pointed fascia with the headlight integrated into the apron. Even the side panels on the Simple One and Ather 450X get cuts and creases and contribute to aggressive styling. However, the One gets a 30-litre boot space, unlike the 450X’s 22-litre storage.
Features
Simple Energy has equipped the One e-scooter with LED illumination as well as a seven-inch TFT touchscreen. It gets Bluetooth connectivity, calls and music access, document storage, navigation, OTA, four-ride modes (Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic), and park assist as well. On the other hand, the Ather 450X Pro Pack comes with five riding modes (Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, Sport, and Warp). It also gets hill assist, Bluetooth compatibility, music and call display, auto-indicator off, navigation, guide-me-home lights, a tyre pressure monitoring system, document storage, OTA (Over The Air) updates, and remote charge monitoring.
Motor and Battery
The Simple One is powered by a 4.5kW motor mated to a 5kWh battery. It gets 105kmph of top speed and a total range of 212km from its fixed and removable battery setup. Meanwhile, Ather gives its electric scooter a 6.2kW motor linked to a 3.7kWh lithium-ion battery. The said setup offers a claimed range of 105km (Eco mode) and 90kmph of top speed.
Hardware
Both scooters get telescopic front forks and a monoshock, while the braking hardware comprises a front and rear disc with the combined braking system and regenerative braking. Even the 12-inch wheels are common on the two e-scooters.
Price
The Simple One retails at Rs. 1.45 lakh and Rs. 1.58 lakh with the 750W charger. On the other hand, the Ather 450X Pro Pack costs Rs. 1.28 lakh (all ex-showroom, Delhi, including FAME II). Overall, the Simple One offers a notably higher range but also costs more.
