Simple Energy recently re-launched its electric scooter, the One, and tweaked the mechanical and software bits. These changes have led to a price hike for the Simple One e-scooter. However, even the updated model continues to rival the same electric scooters as before and in this story, we’ll compare the Simple One against the TVS iQube S.
Design
The Simple One sports a modern and youth-appealing form with its pointed fascia and sharp side panels. The overall design is quite aggressive and should attract younger buyers. On the other hand, the TVS iQube S looks family-friendly and close to what a petrol scooter is like. Its futuristic and clean silhouette makes the iQube S a preferable prospect in the Indian EV market. Both e-scooters seem and are practical in terms of the overall structure.
Motor and Battery
Simple Energy has powered the One with a 4.5kW motor and a 5kWh battery setup. It claims to offer 105kmph of top speed and a maximum range of 212km from its fixed and removable battery setup. However, Simple Energy is yet to share the individual range from the two battery units. Then, the TVS iQube houses a 4.4kW, hub-mounted BLDC motor linked to a 3.4kWh battery. The said setup propels the iQube to 78kmph and offers a range of 100km. Thus, there’s a stark difference between the range of the two scooters, and the Simple One has the upper hand due to its larger battery.
Features
On the feature front, the Simple One gets LED illumination and a seven-inch TFT touchscreen with all the essential data. There’s Bluetooth connectivity, calls and music, document storage, navigation, OTA, four-ride modes (Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic), and park assist as well. Meanwhile, the Hosur-based EV comes with LED illumination, navigation, call and SMS alert, side-stand cut-off, ride modes, regenerative braking, OTA updates, and geo-fencing.
Hardware
Both EVs ride on telescopic front forks, but the Simple One gets a monoshock, unlike the iQube’s dual rear springs. The braking hardware of the Simple e-scooter consists of a 200mm front disc and a 190mm rear disc. In this case, the TVS iQube comes with the compromise of a rear drum brake.
Price
The asking price for the Simple One is set at Rs. 1,45,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) and Rs. 1,58,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru, with the 750W charger). The iQube is much more affordable at Rs. 1,32,454 (on-road, Bengaluru).
