- Transalp 790 could be the name of the new Adventure
- Likely to get styling from Africa Twin CRF1100L
It’s been a few years since the world has been speculating about the middle-weight HondaAfrica Twin. While it didn’t look possible a few years ago, it does look now as the Africa Twin has now gone to the 1100cc segment, creating a big gap in the segment.
Honda had registered the Transalp brand a few years ago. Through this brand name, Honda used to sell a range of dual-sport motorcycles since 1987. This brand was discontinued after the Japanese maker pulled the plug off this bike. But it looks like, the upcoming new adventure bike might get this name, according to a report.
In fact, a few weeks ago we talked about Honda might have developed a 790cc engine for this upcoming adventure bike. If this turns out to be true, the Honda ADV will directly hit the KTM 790 Adventure, one of the best in the segments. So with a 790cc motor and some electronics, this middle-weight ADV from Honda is likely to carry the Transalp 790 name.
We would have love to see some more dope around this motorcycle, at least in a sketch or a concept form at the 2020 EICMA Show in Italy. But a few brands like KTM and BMW Motorrad have decided to skip this automotive show due to COVID-19. So there’s a chance that Honda might delay bringing this new middle-weight adventure bike to the world.
