- 2019 Gixxer SF 250 spotted
- Gets fancy wheels, telescopic suspension
- Overall body proportions are big and bulky
Suzuki’s most awaited motorcycle of the year, the Gixxer SF 250 was spotted for the first time. Unfortunately, this bike was completely wrapped in plastics, making us believe that the dispatches of the bikes have just begun.
While it’s difficult to tell anything about this quarter-litre bike due to the plastics, one thing is for sure – the bike looks big and bulky. The bike also sports some fancy looking alloy wheels and telescopic suspension at the front. The position of the handlebar isn’t too high or too low which makes us believe that the Japanese maker is going to position this bike as an everyday motorcycle.
In terms of performance, we do have some figures, thanks to the leaked patent pictures. The Gixxer SF 250 will be powered by a 250cc single-cylinder unit with a four-valve SOHC configuration. Unfortunately, there will be no liquid-cooling to keep costs in check. This is something Yamaha did with the FZ25 as well. So there’s no radiator. Instead, a low-cost oil-cooler can be seen in those pictures. To meet the emission norms and to maximise the fuel efficiency, fuel-injection is present.
Suzuki will launch this motorcycle on 20 May. According to our sources, there will be a naked motorcycle as well, but that will be launched in the next few months. Once launched, the Gixxer SF 250 will go against the Yamaha FZ 25 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
