Yamaha’s much-awaited R25 finally went on sale in Indonesia last month. The quarter-litre motorcycle managed to garner such an overwhelming response in the market, with 2,800 bookings registered in the first 25 hours itself.
Not that the new R25 is a discreetly styled motorcycle. It is, in fact, quite striking in the way it looks with its sleek, aerodynamic design and impressive paint schemes. However, that hasn’t stopped an Indonesian performance tuning specialist to have a go at enhancing the model’s street cred. The tuning firm goes by the name of Candra Custom Knalpot and what they have shown is a special edition R25 wearing Yamaha’s blue and white Moto GP livery.
The firm has even fitted the performance focussed Akrapovic exhaust system which was seen in the R25 concept. The motorcycle seems to retain the rest of the mechanical bits which means it continues to be powered by the 250cc parallel twin engine. The 8-valve DOHC unit puts out 36bhp of power at a screaming 12,000rpm and 22.1Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm.
There’s no official word from Yamaha about the availability of this special edition R25 in the Indonesian market. If the brand ever decides to put it on sale, expect the special edition R25 to be priced a bit higher over the standard model.
