Spied image of the upcoming 2017 KTM Duke

This new image is no big surprise, we began reporting about refreshed KTM Dukes being in the works back in December. The motorcycle was also disclosed in spy shots of it being tested in Spain last month. But, this new image of the prototype does have a few revealing details.

The upcoming Duke hosts major visual changes including a reshaped fuel tank and side panels, an updated seat unit, instrument cluster and a rear end. The side panels, a new addition, look considerably lengthy and keep the edgy styling of the motorcycle intact. This new image also reveals the new headlight, which could be a slotted multibeam unit something similar to the one on the latest spy shot of the Bajaj Pulsar CS400.

Furthermore, the motorcycle seems to have lost its mid-panel to reveal more of the naked trellis frame and the new subframe. The rear, as seen in the last set of spy shots has been completely redesigned with it now featuring a sharper rake and an integrated taillight.

However, beneath the mini-Superduke styling, reports suggest there’s also a host of engine updates to the 390 model to meet new Euro-4 regulations. The single-cylinder engine has been reworked to give a more stable combustion and more efficient fuel delivery with the latest engine management systems not only giving more power but also increased  fuel economy. Along with the new header piper design, the motorcycle will also have the Euro-4 compliant side-mounted exhaust.

Kudos to KTM for always staying up in the game in terms of technology and in the ‘power for money’ league. Similar to the current international Duke model line-up, we expect seeing a lot of these changes on the Duke 125, 200 and 250 as well. As reports suggest, we will likely see this completely reworked Duke hit the market sometime in 2017. Also expect this mini-Superduke to be priced marginally higher than the outgoing model.
